Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a dry spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds.  A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he received a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a nearby college – a thriller which Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway hit.  Using his penchant for plot, and out of his desperate desire to once again be the toast of Broadway, Sidney, along with his wife, Myra, cook up an almost unthinkable scheme: They’ll lure the would-be playwright to the Bruhl home, kill him, and market the sure-fire script as Sidney’s own.

The scene is a fishing lodge in rural Georgia often visited by “Froggy” LeSeuer, a British demolition expert who occasionally runs training sessions at a nearby army base.  This time, “Froggy” has brought along a friend, a painfully shy young man named Charlie who is terrified at the thought of making conversation with strangers.  Therefore, before “Froggy” leaves the camp, he tells the others lodge visitors that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and speaks no English.  Once alone, the fun really begins as Charlie overhears more than he should – the evil plans of a sinister, two-faced minister and his redneck associates.

The Theatre Family is extremely saddened by the devastation to our beautiful city and it’s wonderful citizens and are hopeful all those affected  are safe and already receiving assistance.

By Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten.

Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships.  Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives.  As the years pass, these five women increasingly rely on one another, through advice and raucous repartees, to get through the challenges (men, sex, marriage, parenting, divorce and aging) that life flings at them.

The Dixie Swim Club is the story of these five unforgettable women – a hilarious and touching comedy about friendships that last forever.
