Young Frankenstein graphic

“It’s alive!” Hollywood’s king of farce and parody, Mel Brooks, reunited with the creative team behind The Producers for this theatrical re-imagining of Young Frankenstein, the 1974 comedy that took on the classical horror film genre. The musical follows a young neurosurgeon who inherits his grandfather’s castle in Transylvania. Dr. Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”) finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors as he tries to complete his grandfather’s experiments to reanimate the dead. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds. He is aided by the hunchbacked, bulging-eyed Igor (“Eye-gore”), his curvaceous lab assistant, Inga, needy fiancée Elizabeth and the frightfully eccentric housekeeper Frau Blucher, who together sing a number of catchy tunes like “Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”  Young Frankenstein has all the of panache of the screen sensation with a little extra theatrical flair added. Adult themes and humor, remember it’s Mel Brooks!

Doublewide Texas clipart By Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten

In this hilarious, fast-paced comedy, the residents of one of the smallest trailer parks in Texas—four doublewides and a shed—are thrown for a loop when they realize the neighboring town of Tugaloo is determined to annex them. And it’s not as if they don’t already have enough to deal with. Joveeta Crumpler has had it up to here, having been passed over again for a promotion at work. On top of this, she has an ongoing battle to keep her feisty mother, Caprice, out of the local bar and worries that her good-ol’-boy brother, Baby Crumpler, is taking his participation in a womanless beauty pageant way too seriously. Joveeta’s big-hearted best friend, Georgia Dean Rudd, is struggling to keep her diner and finances afloat, but she just can’t stop her impulse to take in every stray animal that wanders by. Then there’s Big Ethel Satterwhite,  her mule-headed husband, O.C., and Haywood Sloggett, the curmudgeon from across the road, who loathes their “trailer-trash” ways, especially their keeping a life-size illuminated nativity scene up year ’round.  So grab your Stetson and come on over to Doublewide, Texas, where life is double the fun, double the joy, and where audiences double over with laughter!

Hound of the BaskervillesA Sherlock Holmes Play by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Sir Henry is heir to the vast Baskerville fortune, a legacy that comes with a family curse: death at the fangs of a horror that prowls the moor. Only Holmes can stop the beast. While mysterious lights signal Baskerville Hall and the hound terrifies the countryside, the sleuthing begins and suspicion falls on sinister servants, butterfly collectors, ladies in distress, and escaped convicts. Who wrote the letter that summoned the hound? Is Sir Henry’s romance with the lovely Kathy doomed? Is the supernatural at work?  Holmes’ most spine-chilling mystery is placed in a modern setting in this version – with suspense, humor, and terror.

Dixie Swim ClubBy Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten

Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives. The Dixie Swim Club focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of thirty-three years.  As these five women, Sheree, the team captain, Dinah the wisecracking overachiever, Lexie, pampered and outspoken, self-deprecating and acerbic Vernadette, and sweet, eager-to-please Jeri Neal lives unfold and as the years pass, they increasingly rely on one another, through the challenges (men, sex, marriage, parenting, divorce, aging) that life flings at them.  This is the story of five unforgettable women—a hilarious and touching comedy about friendships that last forever…

NightWatchBy Lucille Fletcher

Unable to sleep, Elaine Wheeler paces the living room of her Manhattan townhouse, troubled by unsettling memories and vague fears. Her husband tries to comfort her, but when he steps away for a moment Elaine screams as she sees (or believes she sees) the body of a dead man in the window across the way. The police are called, but find nothing except an empty chair. Elaine’s terror grows as shortly thereafter she sees still another body—this time a woman’s—but by now the police are skeptical and pay no heed to her frantic pleas. The plot moves quickly and grippingly as those involved—Elaine’s old friend and house guest Blanche; the inquisitive and rather sinister man who lives next door; and the nosy German maid Helga—all contribute to the deepening suspense and mystery of the play as it draws towards its riveting and chilling climax.

Nor is there any sign of relief from the dry heat, when suddenly, from out of nowhere, appears a picaresque, sweet-talking man with quite the sales pitch. Claiming to be a “rainmaker,” the man promises to bring rain, for $100.  While attempting to make rain, young Starbuck turns his attentions to Ms. Lizzie.  Does it rain?  Does love find it’s way to Lizzie’s heart?

The Odd Couple

This classic comedy of two mismatched roommates, but this time they are female!  Neat, uptight Florence Unger meets slovenly, easygoing Olive Madison.  Instead of the poker party that begins the original version, Ms. Madison has invited the girls over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit. Olive and their group of girlfriends are enjoying the weekly game night in Olive’s messy and ill-equipped apartment sans Florence. As the group begins to wonder why Florence is late, she arrives, fresh from being dumped by her husband. Fearful that the neurotic Florence might attempt suicide, Olive invites her to move in as her roommate. As expected, mayhem and hilarity abound.

The Dining Room

By A.R. Gurney

The play is set in the dining room of a typical well-to-do household, the place where the family assembled daily for breakfast and dinner and for any and all special occasions. The action is comprised of a mosaic of interrelated scenes—some funny, some touching, some rueful—which, taken together, create an in-depth portrait of a vanishing species:  the upper-middle-class family. Each vignettes explores the dynamic relationships of family life, a vanishing class of society from the 1930’s to the 1980’s.
